CSTA Illinois

We are CSTA Illinois

CSTA Illinois is a professional organization dedicated to supporting K-12 computer science teachers across the state. As a chapter of the national Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), we provide a collaborative community for educators to share resources, engage in professional development, and advocate for high-quality CS education.

Illinois Teachers & Administrators: Share Your Voice on Computer Science Education!

Help shape the future of computer science education in Illinois by taking this short survey so we can understand the current landscape of K-12 CS education in Illinois. Your insights will inform efforts to support educators like you, your students, and your school(s) in expanding CS learning opportunities through legislation, resources, and more.

We want to learn from you--whether or not your region, district, or school currently offers computer science.

Plus, by participating, you can optionally enter into a random drawing for one of 10 $30 gift cards.

Take the survey today! Thank you for sharing your time and expertise!

This survey is being conducted by ECEP Illinois, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Institute for Advancing Computing Education. Results will be shared in a report published later this year.

At the Institute for Advancing Computing Education (IACE), our mission is to advance PreK-12 computer science (CS) education for all children by enabling and disseminating exemplary evidence-driven research.

CS PD Week 2026 Announcement!

For the last three years, Illinois CS PD Week has empowered and engaged educators in the fundamentals of computational thinking and computer science.  As the digital landscape shifts, classrooms, curriculums, and professional development shifts too. We are proud to announce the evolution of our program into CS + AI PD Week. This updated experience bridges the gap between traditional computer science and the frontier of Artificial Intelligence. Teachers will move beyond 'how computers work' to explore 'how systems learn,' ensuring our K-12 students are not just digital citizens, but architects of the AI-driven future.  Thanks to generous funding from the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Illinois CS Equity Grant, we are able to decrease registration and offer some exciting incentives for participation!
